Most security devices rely on the internet for communication. Having a sub-par router will only cause problems when you least expect it. We highly encourage customers to purchase their own wireless router instead of using the ISP supplied router. A modem from Spectrum/Optimum is total fine, but if that device is also giving you WiFi, then you should purchase your own. Most motion detectors will reliably ignore a dog weighing under 60lbs. If the dog is very “mobile” and jumps, then reduce that to 40lbs. We do not want to take on the liability of working on equipment that we are not 100% certified to work on.

We choose to provide our customers with the most reliable and redundant monitoring station we could find. Unfortunately that isn’t “local”, but we’ll settle for reliable instead.
